Restore Java on Metis C1 (MPC4503)

    Hi there!

Is there anyway to restore Java on a MPC4503?
I was trying to update Java on a MPC4503 but used the Java Update Tool from MPC4504 by mistake.
After the "update" the machine said "SDK/J update SUCCESS" but Java didn't start.
All other applications work normally (Copy, Scan, Print...) but Java doesn't start.
I stumbled upon this document SDK update.pdf and tried this but it didn't work. Tried with versions 11.02.04, 11.32.04 and 11.39.02.
I searched my-ricoh for a java recovery tool but there isn't one for Metis-C1. Only for Java v12 (Griffin, Metis C2, ...).

How can I recover it? Can someone please help me?

There is a recovery tool for Metic c1 just ask your local Ricoh Support, I know in the Uk they provide it.

I asked them and they said there isn't any for Metis C1. As I said, I've searched on my-ricoh and didn't find it.

You may have to request a visit by your regional support representative. The regional rep will bring recovery tool and do the recovery, The procedure should be somewhere on My-Ricoh. You will have to completely document what the problem is and what you have done to correct it. If there is not a tool, the regional rep will have contact information, and authority to contact, for the product engineer(s).

If you don't need JAVA you can disable it with SP5730 set 0

Maybe I should have mentioned that I need Java for Papercut and Autostore.

I've already spoken with them and they said they've searched on every database they have for help. Meanwhile I've ordered a controller board and I am still waiting for a response from Ricoh.

That is just the call center. They do not normally talk to the product engineers since the product engineers want to talk to someone on site. That is why you need to request a visit form your regional rep.

I tried and it didn't work. I left the machine on for over an hour after inserting the SD card with the Java firmware and no message appeared on the screen. Neither "Updating SDK/J" nor "SDK/J Success".

I have a Controller Board from a working machine and I'm going to replace it.

[SOLVED] Re: Restore Java on Metis C1 (MPC4503)

                        I managed to recover Java.
Thanks to TonerMunkeh for sending me the recovery tool for Metis C1. I don't understand why isn't this clearly available on my-ricoh.

Thanks everyone for all the help!

I don't know about my-ricoh but for Ricoh-USA it is available on rfg-esource, Ricoh's repository for all downloadable files. It is just a matter of knowing how to search for it. That comes from years of experience trying to find things that aren't where you would expect them to be on TSRC-Ricoh. Their keyword search index is not always complete.

This is another method. What we've found is that a lot of times when you extract the Java update it doesn't fully extract. Make sure the extracted file is over 100mb.
                              Java Reload from scatch.doc

EDIT: This is for the xx04 series, but the added Sp settings are the point of the attachment.
