    SC 220-03 On Ricoh MPC305

    Good morning
    I have a problem with this Mpc305
    How much I try a print, a color copy I get sc220-03
In black and white the print works correctly
If I restart the machine I always get sc220 error.
The connectors are ok, and I have not noticed any broken piece.
I do not have much experience with these printers, so I ask for your help.
    Important

Before this problem the printer did not print yellow

    Thanks

Well known problem on this copier. The yellow laser unit has been given a small shock and has been knocked out of alignment. The fix is quite simple. Remove the paper exit tray which is the cover over the laser units. Remove two screws on the yellow / black laser unit which is the one closest to the fuser. Lift laser unit out and.................just put it back in again!!!!!!! No not joking this is the Ricoh official fix as per their Tech Bulletin.
The tray over the lasers is too thin and flexes too much and if customer is too heavy handed grabbing the prints they can jar the laser unit.
Now since the Y laser hasn't been drawing the ID patch on the drum correctly you may have over toning / under toning issues.

How every the best fix to solve all the problems this crappy piece of miss-design comes up with is to replace it with a later 306 or 307 model which seem to have all the 305's problems solved.

      Thanks for your answers
Are any of you kind enough to give me the part number of the flat cable that connects to the bicu from the laser?

I did not find it in the manual

      Thanks

All wiring loom part numbers are on the point to point diagrams these days

        D117 5230 for the K & C laser
        D117 5231 for the M & Y laser

How ever I doubt if they are the problem.

          Thanks Lagonda!
          Changed Flat Cables.
          No SC-220 errors on startup
          The problem of yellow persists.
          When I run MUSIC (SP2-111-002) ---> FAILED
If I print test patterns for every single color, yellow is never printed, blank page.
If I perform color registration in maintenance I get an error
          The valor
          SP2-117-001 (Magenta) - 0
          SP2-117-003 (Yellow) - 0
          SP2-117-002 (Cyan) - 0
          SP2-117-004 (Black) - 0

Lagonda is not Bull@@@@ing you. Here is the Tech Bulletin he is referring to. I have had this problem before - no SC code but colours misaligned.

I have followed the instructions in the technical bulletin and I get an error when I play music, even the washers on the lasers are turned but nothing changes.

Did you have both Laser Housing out and did they reseat easily when you reinstalled them? One of the housings may be hanging up. If you have it all closed up with the Internal Cover back in place I would take it apart again and check.

Both lasers are identical you can swap them to trouble shoot, quite often swapping them then running SP2111 forced line adjust will resolve the issue.

Check the smc for pcdu lifetime. Printout the test page in printer sp and have look to the yellow patterns. By the way, you should disassemble waste toner box, all pcdus, fusing and itb unit, to clean the id sensors. I think you have to swap the pcdu yellow!!!

When you disassemble the laser unit so pull out the toner bottle and suck off gently the toner housing from toner soilings.
