      you weren't really clear... is the line the the direction of paper movement? check the belt cleaner.

          Haven't seen it on color machines but on high volume, 50-80 ppm, B/W it will occur when it is time to replace the drum and rebuild the charge corona. Drum has not yet reached full charge potential before the lead edge of first sheet after setting for any length of time.
