    2232c exit gate

I have a machine that the exit flippy thingy that makes the paper exit into the machine vs the external tray has gone into the upper hole on the right(rear) side and the lower hole on the left (front) so it wont flip and jams unless I tell all the paper to go to the external tray.

(Exit flippy thingy = black spiky piece that lives just above the fuser)

I looked at another machine and the flippy thingy is supposed to be in the lower holes.

Is there some easy way to fix this?

    Thanks ya'll

I think you are talking about a junction gate wich is kinda hooked out of the right position. If you have another machine for doing a variance comparison and already found out what's wrong - what's the problem?

I'm afriad that if I force it, it may break. Also I dont want to break whatever actually does the flipping on the other side of the frame.

Are you a tech? Then you shouldn't hesitate to remove a few covers to get in to this. You can also check the parts guide drawings to get a quick impression of what is hidden in there.

So my greatest fears were allayed. I was afraid I would have to take off sub-frame after sub-frame to get to the rear side of the exit flippy thing.

Turns out, it is not powered at all, no solenoid, no cam, nothing. Apparantely it just flips to get out of the way of the fuser when you pull it out.

So all I would up having to do was take off the front cover (above the big flip down cover, removed a spring from the end of the flippy thing then a clip, took the flippy thing out a bit and put it back in the right hole. (thats what she said)

          whew.
