MP-2510 user tools just beeps

I can open user tools but if I press any of the choices on the touch screen like System settings or fax settings or anything for that matter, they just beep and do not open.
I am able to get into service mode and did memory clear for copy, printer and fax, and also formatted the hdd but still no change.

Does the 2510 have JAVA (Extended Features) installed? If it does, you have to wait for it to finish loading and initializing, some times as much as 20 minutes. If it is installed bit not in use, once you can access Extended Features in User Tools, Stop it. And cycle power. this is a common problem on any machine with JAVA installed. Can open user tools but can not access anything except counters.

When you press user tools do you have a login button on the top right?
If you do the machine has Admin auth turned on restricting changes untill you log in.

No java card, only the print/scan card in the top slot.
and no log in screen comes up when entering user tools.

I doubt it will help, but if you care to try, I still have the FW for that model around.
