MP301SPF: SD card authentication failed. font01.mod

    Here is an interesting one.

When booting the device, all goes well till shortly after the Copy icon appears on the display.
Then a tiny text message appears in the bottom left corner: "Module authentication has failed. Please call service. Module name:font01.mod"

We have flashed all the font files we could find on MYRicoh with the latest versions, but no luck.

I am starting to think that there was an SD card of some sort in the controller and that this was removed, and that the device is looking for this sd card.

Has anyone else come across this before? I would love to get rid of this message.

Ok, how about a memory all clear? Nothing to loose on this basic b/w model.

Did you use the package firmware or individual modules? Package will not replace those modules that are the same version as on the package.

There is no package fw on this model only modules.

HI, I have the same message on my machine right now,
Have you resolve this Issue yet?
Would like to know what was the outcome.
I don't have a spare controller on hand.

Have you tried the memory clear sp5- 801?

We got ride of this message by using a NVRAM of same model in mpc305 machine. Could be corrupt nvram si try with a new nvram before going for controllers.

It was similar case but was for a fax module. In a machine which didn't have fax in it

                          Hi

Afraid to say we took the advice given, and replaced the controller.

                          • firstly we flashed the firmware with fresh files from MyRicoh - no change
                          • Then did the (unthinkable) memory all clear - no change
                          • Replaced the controller and built over the existing nvram chips - all was well.

Which leads me to believe that the issue exits on the controller board firmware in some non volatile storage that we could not fix by firmware alone
