MP 6002 keeps waking up

Hello!
I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if any solution has been found to this issue. I know exactly what the question is because I have a 6002 with an identical problem. Connecting with the ethernet cable causes the machine to wake up and snooze repetitively. Connecting with USB does not. I would be happy to get to the bottom of it. Thanks!Leave a comment:

Re: MP 6002 keeps waking up
Sorry to report that there was no resolution to this issue. They have two more MP6002 on standby that only get used when the customer has a big project on and when we plugged them into the network they did the same thing. At that point we batted it back to their IT to investigate as they have the time and we didn't and so far they haven't got back to us with a resolution.
How to replace the board controller on the mp6002 problem?Leave a comment:

Re: MP 6002 keeps waking up
My guess would be "Power Over Ethernet" on that connection. Any location using VOIP phones will likely be running POE....and some machines really don't like a power signal running down a data line.
I've seen it KILL Canon control panel boards, and main controllers.
Check with their "I.T. Dweebs", and if they're running POE, have them kill it to the copier's port. If they're unable, you may have to create a custom Cat-5 cable to bypass it.

Re: MP 6002 keeps waking up
I'd use a packet sniffer on the machine's IP to see where the traffic is coming from. Someone may have a direct print queue set up that isn't configured correctly. Or, change the machine's IP and see if the problem persists.Leave a comment:

MP 6002 keeps waking up
Hi all, bit of a strange one has just crossed my desk. We have a MP 6002 that won't stay in energy save/ sleep mode if the network cable is plugged in. Remove the cable and the copier goes into snooze mode and stays there, plug the network cable in and the fans come one but nothing happens and then goes into standby mode but after 1 sec it wakes up again and keeps going in this cycle even though no one has printed to it.
Any ideas as to where we start looking?
