Need some advice and handy tips for a MP C3004 with E-24B fiery

    Hi there!

one of our clients with a fiery criticised colors of some printouts. An onsite appointment was made for next week by our dispatch. Then, hopefully, I'll grab and get more infos about the situation.

Is there a standard routine/procedure to check on the machine clients complaints? What are you doing or asking the customer?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers, Aktasson

Get the idiot salesman to explain why buying an expensive Fiery will not make a low volume office colour machine perform like a Production machine.

I also did not understand why a office machine offered with a fiery controller to the customer. And as it is, the tech ppl should turn wrong things to the bright side The other problem is we do not have a fiery either in our workshop, labroom nor showroom for testing.

I agree on that. There is no need for a fiery on a non production machine.

Unless your boss enjoys have unhappy customers, I would suggest have one on the demo floor. I would also you get Fiery Training from EFI.com, both service and sales.

I would also make sure the Fiery gets calibrated either with the test strips that come with it or preferably with an ES-1000 or 2000

AGREED....and make sure that all the Fiery patches have been done and it's up to date.
But a Fiery on a low range '04 is lipstick on a pig I'm afraid.

Yes, a fiery on a non production model will not produce any better print quality than a standard model.

It will however speed up print processing, large pdf files etc however not significantly to warrant the extra cost.

My boss has argued to this point that exactly 2 fierys on a office machine installed in the total field, and training programs does not make sense .
In addition in my opinion, we should also have advanced knowledge to the topic color management firstly.

I did the calibration with the strips during workshop preinstalltion. I will repeat that next week on service visit.

Yes must be done anytime color is off , sometimes weekly most of the time there color files where tune to there previous machine. So they may have to adjust to a correct machine. Also was there last machine fiery based? Most color shops have someone there that knows how to calibrate a fiery

I suppose it's too much to ask to explain the difference between "Additive" and "Subtractive" color processing, and why an RGB monitor and a CMYK based paper printout MIGHT look a little different??

                        ...anyone?? ....anyone??.... Bueller??

That was not the question. Are you an RICOH fiery technician or specialist to give me some helps? Thanks.

I don't know about Ricoh-EU, but a couple of years ago when I took the EFI initial training, I signed up through the Ricoh Learning Institute which Ricoh-USA had contracted with EFI to provide. No cost to the dealer at that time.

Depending on what variety of media (paper) they are using, you might need to set up media profiles in Command Workstation.
