New to Lanier... how would you rate?

After years of fighting with a Sharp copier at my home based copy shop, it finally died.

I was able to pick up a Lanier LD525C very cheap ($50!) It even came with an extra set of toner cartridges.

I was hoping to get some feedback on your experience with the Lanier line.

Are they prone to breakdowns? How are they to work on? Have you had experience with refilling toner cartridges? Do the cartridges require replacement computer chips? What should I watch for? How available are parts/components? How well do they run heavy paper and envelopes?

Any advice you can offer will be accepted with gratitude.

First you have to realize Lanier doesn't make any copiers. What you have is a Ricoh Aficio MP C2550 copier with Lanier name. They are decent machines. Don't think there are chips to reset anything on this model. Ricoh parts should be readily available. Looks like you can use the Ricoh toner which would be easier to find, and less $$$. I would recommend using genuine toner in this color model.

Not bad machines for a light duty color copier. Toner is very affordable, Drums have good yield, pretty solid machines except for those light duty flimsy cassettes and noise from the feed and sep pads. I like the model but it is older and setting it up to scan to email might no longer be possible. Scan to folder should be fine though.

i sold about 20 of these a few years ago, mostly low meter lease returns.
You cant muscle the machine, there is a ton of plastic everywhere.
Empty the waste toner and the ITB waste unit, clean the reg roller wth wd40
and blow out the right side door with air.
watch the duplex guides and modify the paper trays..
