[Jamming] MPC2503 Y toner hopper breaking due to compacted toner - Advice please

Please can anybody advise on a issue i have with a Ricoh MPC2503.

This is a 6 month new machine.
location was in a roof space of a building and the air was hot due to the outside temp being in the 30s and found out the heating was on!

On the first visit machine making a loud noise from the rear left side edge, On investigation the hopped was jammed with toner and the auger was broken.
I also notised that inside the dev unit the toner was solid around the auger to the edge causing it to not to move and the toner was compressed going into the dev unit.
constantly asking for toner so everything was backing up.

Fitted a new hopper & hopper feed motor, sub hopper was free of any solid toner. Also fitted a PCDU and new toner as it was not recognising the old toner bottle.

Started printing a treat. no noise and the Yellow test pattern no issues.

At the end of the day customer rings back and same issue, compated toner in hopper that then caued the hopped to break.

I disabled the low toner warning in sp mode and it prints fine wich tells me all motors woring and pcdu seems to be doing what it should do.

Ss a side note the heating has now been turned off and the temp is slightly cooler, also the machine has been moved out of the roof space and into the office that has a window for a cooler work place.

Is there something i have missed?
Has anybody else had a similar issue?

Will be returning this Thursday 05/07/2018 with a new hopper and would love to get to the bottom of this machine.

    Thanks in advance

Sounds like you have a toner supply issue since it keeps saying replace toner although bottle was not empty.
If the problem returned and yellow toner is compacted again in the yellow sub hopper............your issue was not caused by heat or the other colors would also be showing signs of the same.
Since the toner backs up in the Y sub hopper to the point that it compacts..........would indicate an issue with the toner transport motor not turning or a blockage of some sort. Assuming you remembered to setup the new Y PCDU in SP-3701

Check that the waste toner bottle isn't full. I've had the wtb full actuator knocked off of the wtb and that caused the waste toner to back through the system into the pcus. It can be a bit of work to clear out the waste toner system. If that happened you need to check that the waste toner augers in the rest of the pcus aren't packed up also.

Where were they storing the toner? could be lumps in the new toner bottle you fitted.

Interesting as we had one machine in normal operating environment this had a black & 2 cyan hoppers fail in a single week!

            Many thanks on your help

            blazebusiness

the first dev unit had rock hard toner around the auger which made me think that was the root cause on the back up of toner and the noise.
            yes SP-3701 was executed

            Mark Bbb

we got the machine up via a lift then rolled it into the roof area (tin roof and was mostly used for storage)
the machine is now cooler out side the enviroment.

            totoro

I did look at the waste hole and totaly clear, No blockage

            copier tech

The toner is stored in the roof area ...... Hmmmm this could be something.

The other strange thing that happends is when the hopper goes faulty and all is not well, the toner bottle chip fails and the only way to get it to see a bottle is to fit a new bottle.

            Thanks in advance

If the machine was held not horizontaly after it was installed, developer has slided to one side, causing all kinds of troubles...

Any progress on this issue? We have a few different ones doing the same thing with yellow.

when i move any machines with stairs i always pull drum/dev units,ITB unit and even radf if I only have one guy helping me carry it.
At the least pull everything out and turn by hand and inspect before firing up.
In hot accounts,ie closet installs, i had accnt buy a small fan to run behind copier.
Not sure but i would look to have exhaust fans run on longer settings.

                    Copier Tech you are right,
Please advice customer to shake the bottle vigorously & be sure that toner is free.
Also check all the fans in the machine are working correctly. No covers are missing, especially Fuser and surrounding.
If machine is in hot environment and customer is using it very occasionally, educate him to loose the toner manually.
Lastly I hope that its a OEM toner.
                    Hope this helps

We have the same problem, please see the image :ad.jpg the machine keeps adding toner until the hopper is filled causing the spiral to break or get out.
The toner distribution is delayed from the develpment unit opening, blocking the toner from the hopper to drop freely. You need to clean the toner hopper and dev't unit.
remove the old toner replace it with a new stock.

BIG BIG thanks to all who have helped and advised.

Luckly the customer only works a few days a week so i turned off the toner low feed in SP mode to get them running without toner being constantly loaded.

I have another new hopper to fit and will investigate the above advice.

                            Many thanks again

                            Dave
                            xx

Looks like the info is not for my machine
This may not be for the MPC2503 as no knocking mech on the dev units.

This is generally what we've been seeing. It is important to clean the plastic vertical tube that sits between the dev unit and toner hopper. It's held on by 2 screws to the rear frame of the machine (above where a toner pump would be, on the old models).

If this piece isn't cleaned out, it dumps all of its toner into the new dev unit, and soon the hopper is clogged again.
