    MP305+ B/W

    Howdy folks,

Got a machine that is having duplex exit sensor jams when feeding more than 1 sheet. Sensor operates fine in SP 5803-5. I enter the copy window, do 1 double sided copy and flip back to SP mode and i can watch entrance and exit sensor turn on and off just fine. When i do 2 sheets the exit sensor turns on when the paper hits it but it does not turn off. I have replaced the sensor.

Once i saw the exit sensor turn off and then turn back on, it was almost like it bounced. The sensors are a photo interrupter with a flag and spring attached directly to the sensor.

I would like to put my meter on the BICU and actually watch the sensor but after looking up the connector in the P2P and pulling the back cover off and saying a bad word that is not happening.

Any body else run into this before?

Change the two "toy" electomagnetic clutches on the top of the main engine and you hoy the issue solved.

Think they're named like duplex and reverse on the part list.

Ill give that shot. Are they sticking on or something screwing up the spacing between pages when reversing the paper back in?

When the sheet starts to enter in duplex section, it must stop to let the other sheet inside run. The clutch fails (always) and don't do the stop, and the sheet reaches the next duplex sensor too early, and u got a jam.

Thats the reason it work well with a single sheet double sided, it don't need to stop. But when there are multiple doble sided, have to stop to let the other sheet out.

Sensors in SP are ok, and it's true.

Both top clutches, maybe, can be only one faulty, but changing both if them, u solve the issue.

You sir are correct. When facing the back of the machine, the clutch on the left is responsible for reversing the paper back in. I put the old clutch back in and there is no pause when reversing the second sheet back into the machine and it went into a jam. Im going to swap the other clutch out as i have it and don't want to keep it in stock but it's probably fine.

Part number of bad clutch: AX201013

            Thanks mate!
