Never had a dodgy sensor on one of these machines pretty sure they have modified the magnet catches.

Some time ago, I noticed a thread about using a fusing unit for SPC811DN color printer in a MPC 4500. Apparently you need to switch a wire in the connector to get it to work in the MPC 4500. Anyone out there have this info?

There are 2 sensors that when the fuser is pushed back into the copier the fuser hits them These 2 sensors have been modified so that they are wider apart. I had 6 copiers with sc548 and sc549 i changed the sensors and heh presto all fixed

Intermittent SC549 code can be caused by a broken gear in the fuser drive section. Unfortunatly since I heard about the write up on the fault I've not been back to this fault but it might be worth a check. It only effects mpc3500/4500 and not the 2500/300 type machines.

Any feed back on this would be helpful as, as I said I've not done it yet.

            cheers(see attachment)

                Hello,

the sensor is new (two weeks) and seems well aligned. What else could it be?

                Thanks for your time

PD. Sorry for my bad English

                  This is very easy:
                  - remove the cover behind the fuser connector
                  - remove the fuse wich does normally blew so the printer recognize the fuser as new (copier don't need this)
                  - take a look for a connector with red cables (located at the backside of the large fuser connector as well) and compare the pin assignment between the original copier fuser and the spc fuser. IIRC correctly there is just a cable bridge on that connector to adapt. Like I said: Just look and compare - really self-explaining.

Interesting - I'll keep it in mind. So far I had just fuser SC based of broken sensors (modified ones are more idiot proof) or of the fuser itself. Sometimes the ferrit core "stucked" so the drive isn't able to adjust the core - you'll recognize that if you try to turn it with your hands.

Very true, I've changed a shit load of these switches for causing intermittent jams.

                    1. When the machine is at the 'Ready' state tap on the two bridge unit covers.
Replace the switches if they flash up open when tapping (don't blink though you may miss it).

                    2. Keep a look out for high number of 'power on' jams on the SMC logging, replace the switches if the number is high.

Also watch out for black plastic bushings on the ferrite roller as they eventually will degrade / melt if you are not replacing them every few fuser PMs.

Oh and the little black plastic holder where the two ferrite rotating shafts pass through for the sensors (shown above) always seem to work loose between fuser PMs and require tightening up.
