Ricoh AF 2238C Scan to email problems

    Hi all,
I'm trying to configure the scan to email but am having problems. Email does not get sent. The customer is hosting emails on Google mail.

This the current configuration on the machine:

    Reception Protocol: SMTP

    SMTP server name: smtp.gmail.com
    SMTP Port No : 25
    SMTP Authentication: On
    SMTP Auth. Encryption: Auto Select

    POP3/IMAP4 Server Name: imap.gmail.com
    POP3/IMAP4 Encryption: Auto Select

    IMAP4 Reception Port No: 993
    POP3 Reception Port No: 110
    SMTP Reception Port No: 25

In the system log I get the following error:
#[dcs_nas(20)]08/11/18 10:13:01 SMTPC: failed to connect smtp server. timeout. ERR:
    Any suggestions?

First, check to make sure you've got good DNS server addresses. Open up command prompt and ping the DNS. Next try to ping SMTP.GMAIL.COM. This should resolve to an IP address. Try putting the IP in the SMTP server name and retry. Are you sure SMTP Authentication should be on? Do you have a good authentication login and password? One thing I try to do in this case is use our business email which does not use authentication. I know it's good and you can piggy back off of any good SMTP server if you have the address and authentication credentials where needed. If you can successfully ping the SMTP and DNS servers, then you have an authentication issue. If you aren't recieving email at the machine, turn off all the POP and incoming email selections. Hope this helps and good luck.
the savin2535 is displaying well bet the hiter lamp is not shining and the lamp had been tested o.k.please kindly help.

Thanks for the quick response, unfortunately even after changing the setting as suggested, I still get the same error msg. I've ping'ed the smtp and replaced it with the IP address.

I tried using my personal gmail address and even then I have the same problem.

Here's a screenshot of my settings.

Try this: change the SMTP server to smtp.googlemail.com using Port 25.

The Googlemail domain doesn't have SSL on it... At least it didn't last time I set one up using it.

Di you check the DNS to make sure it is valid? Use the ping command to verify the machine can connect to it.

Guys Gmail actually uses port 587 for smtp, I have setup 5 to 10 of these and it works like a charm, just make sure smtp authentifcation is turned on. this may help as well, this is the outlook setup for gmail, even though its a little different it gives all of the pertinent info.

mmru4real is correct Gmail is on port 587. I doubled checked it via a telnet session.

                            Thanks for the correction.

I've ping'ed the DNS, I get a reply. I've attached a screenshot of my config page. This problem is driving me nuts!

Also changed to port 587 but still same error.
