Odd issue with a mpc3003 with a SOP

I have a mpc3003 with a SOP that i delivered a few weeks ago but did not set up to pc due to
waiting on that office getting connected to internet provider.
At the time of delivery i did the latest "package firmware" and change the ip address to 192.168.1.155.
Customer called me yesterday and cant get the print working.
Had him enter the ip address and made sure it was set up on specify not DHCP.
He tells me that after doing that it keeps back to some 10.11.12.0 address when i have him print out config page..
Also he could not see any login on the SOP panel.I had a mpc401 to reference and saw login right next the half moon sleep.
Is there a setting i dont know about with the SOP panel?
I am going the next week with my laptop.
    thanks

Is this set up to print via wifi or LAN?
Get the user to turn on DHCP, note what ip it picks up & go from there.

If the screen shows the IP you put in (192.168.x.x) but when you print a config page it shows 10.11.x.x then try checking that the 802.x Authentication (I forget the exact name) wasn't turned on.
If you print the Network settings from SP mode it will likely show something along the lines of "IP4: 192.168.x.x (10.11.x.x)".

The 10.11.12.x address is a default IP the machine can pull when the network settings are not properly configured (169.x.x.x occurs when DHCP can't connect).

        thanks for the reply back
i had them them connecting wired.
I couldnt test anything as verizon did not connect them to the street yet.
They have a wireless router too

but i always opt to connect wired..

does the SOP panel act the same when you want to make all the user tools setting back to default?
is the 802.x Authentication under user tools or via service mode?

Authentication setting is in User Tools, I believe on the second page of Interface Settings.

            thanks
            resetting 802.x Authentication it was.

i at first try to restore system settings back to factory default using the # and hitting system settings.

he could not get to work..

I am guessing if he could have gone back to factory defaults

            it would have worked too?

SP 5801-001 NCS can be used to reset all network settings to default.

Re: Odd issue with a mpc3003 with a SOP

i worry the customer randomly changed every normal setting in an attempt to
                get print option to work.
If I hear back then i will have that 5801 in my back pocket.
What would be the reason an account would turn on
                802.x Authentication?

Most likely thought it was needed for WIFI. There are a couple of high domain security protocols but I doubt if a customer would know them. As far as WIFI it only works with Ricoh's expensive internal POS interface.

I've been caught with the 802. auth setting before.
Customer moved a machine from the big city to a rural office and that setting was turned on...took me a bit of running around to find it.
The city office actually needed it turned on for access to their wifi network but when it was cabled into the router at the rural site it over rides the Ethernet settings.
                    Pain in the rear end...!!!
