Agreed, but I've personally seen both.
In fact, I had one with the gears chewed up just a couple of weeks ago.

Without agitation there is no tribo-electric effect. The toner does not statically cling to the ferrite particles and just sits in the bottom of the developing unit. The toner sensor identifies low toner density and dumps loads of toner into the developing unit. If this continues for any length of time the developing unit will fill until toner is bursting from the seams of the unit, or the machine indicates low toner, or both. =^..^=
      "tribo-electric"
i have not heard that phrase in 25 years maybe more ...
Makes me think back on old analog b/w sharp or minolta copiers where you
would adjust the dev unit after installing new developer using a allen key sensor that
you would turn till both leds would flicker................its come a long way

        You got that right. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
