    MPC 3003 Slow Printing

    Gents,

I was scratching my head on this issue. Firmwares are updated, HDD reformatted, Printer App, NCS has been reset but still prints slow in some particular PDFs.
The PDF was the scanned document from the device. If you compare the print speed from a word-converted PDF, it prints fast within 2 seconds. Tried printing thru my cable and got the same slow result.

The printer driver is a UPD since the device is connected to a Print Management software.

*it prints slow on scanned documents only!

I have simulated the same document to an older device with the same print driver and guess what, it prints within 4 seconds! I called up the IT to try to install the normal PCL driver from ricoh to test it. Awaiting for his input as I am on my way to visit the site.

Unless it's running a solution, switch Java off with SP 5730. That has a dramatic effect on print speed due to more available memory.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

There is your problem (my guess)

The solution design was a central printer queue then the job will be released to any of the devices (MPC 3003, MPC 4503 and MPC 3002). I will give it a try to setup a central queue with the original PCL driver and see the results. BTW, it prints slow on the MPC 3003 only

Also check that the port is set to TCP/IP. Microsoft has a nasty habit of installing printers on WSD ports.

Interesting, I may start turning this off on a few of my devices & monitor the print speed.

I disable WSD print and scan on all the devices I install, just saves time on callbacks due to slow printing or with user codes not working because WSD installed Ricoh class rubbish driver

                    UPDATE:

Printed thru FTP = within 3 secs
Printed thru direct cable = 5 seconds
Printing thru network = 25 seconds....

I have asked the IT to change the ports maybe? from his switch

We'll see tomorrow for the update

This may be a shot in the dark, but there are fuser temp and idle settings that effect print speed. Run a non-default smc and see if any of these have been taken out of specs. After re-reading your last post, this is probably not the case. 25 seconds for network printing = network issue I would say.

not to hijack a tread but is JAVA the issue with the c3003 taking so long to load all options on full restart ?

My experience is that if JAVA is enabled, you cannot get into most SP and User Tools options until it finishes loading (abut 5 minutes).

                              Update:

I have asked the IT to trace where the port is connected and try to change it. Was waiting for his tracing tool and there it goes. When he changed the port, it worked like charm.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Highly appreciated!
