    mpc3501 transfer belt issues

    hi
I have a mpc3501 that i swapped the complete image transfer unit out twice in the last 6-7 months, like 3 months between each with a good working pull
as customer didnt want to buy a new one...
It seems to separate a bit on the rear of unit, right at the edge and then shoot a sc code wth ITB motor stalled..
I looked thru it good but did not see anything and lasting 3 months and then tearing is odd.
    is it just bad luck?
I hate to put a brand new and wipe that one out too.

Remember one thing, unless you have a parts unit that is already dead, you are going to have to put new belt on that ITB unit before you can sell the machine you took the replacement from.

The separation could be due to the age of the belt.

I have had the ITB cleaning blade erode away on the back edge, and acually fray the belt, then i put in a new clng blade and shredded the belt.. stupid i know , but check the cleaning unit on the back side of ITB, this could be fraying the belt, i believe they are only rated at 75k so i would change it every 60-65k .

hmm - just curious what's your opinion, which ones are the better machines? the old 3002s or the 03s with their duplex units all jammed into the box?

I would go for the old 3002s. I hate it when the 03s development unit gets choked with hardened toner inside.
            Aye! Cut the crap

i gotta say i hate the way they changed the handle to lift on the mpc3003..
I had a few i had to split the 2 tray base from the machine and carry up a flight of stars.
If you place the machine on the ground lifting it back up you are almost touching the floor.....
I was like WTF...Also I thought the black on the 03s was a little weak..
I like the 02s as i have lots of spare parts from other models..
Also word is the 03 drum price is excessive...

Went to account and looks like a small 1 inch tear on the edge of belt in rear.
As it is not in the copy area i cleaned it wth alcohol and put a small piece of tape, then some
                starting powder..
If it gives me 3-6 months of use I will either replace machine or swap in another spare pull.
as for cause>> I am thinking slimslob had it right...
