    Ricoh MP301 bad hard drive

I have a customer that pick up copier cheap. Has use it for a while and now hard drive has gone bad. He only use copier to make copies. Is there away to tell copier that it doesn't have one in it so the code wont show up on display. It still makes copies but he like code not to show up if possible. Any help will be appreciate i look in service manual but i don't see any thing to turn off hard drive function.

Apparently, you haven't tried anything yourself -like simply disconnecting it? Even though I'm not sure if that would help or not. How about reformatting it?
Otherwise, why not pickup a used 2.5" HDD for $10 (or less)and pop it in

What is the code? I don't believe MP301"s came with an HDD but they were an option. On Ricoh generally disconnect the HDD and the machine does not look for it.

Just looked at the service manual and there is no SP modes to change when installing. So you should just be able to disconnect at the board and be done.

HDD was indeed an option and not required for most functions. I think some direct print-from or scan-to USB might not work without HDD option, perhaps Airprint, too but everything else will do it's job without HDD.

Any 2.5" hdd will work simply fit another.

But first i'd try formatting your original one, either in service mode with SP5-832-002 or fit the drive to a caddy etc & format in Windows.

Then do what I also suggested and invest $10 frigging dollars in a new (used) one!
