Otherwise, why not pickup a used 2.5" HDD for $10 (or less)and pop it in -
Re: Ricoh MP301 bad hard drive
What is the code? I don't believe MP301"s came with an HDD but they were an option. On Ricoh generally disconnect the HDD and the machine does not look for it.
Just looked at the service manual and there is no SP modes to change when installing. So you should just be able to disconnect at the board and be done.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP301 bad hard drive
HDD was indeed an option and not required for most functions. I think some direct print-from or scan-to USB might not work without HDD option, perhaps Airprint, too but everything else will do it's job without HDD.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP301 bad hard drive

Re: Ricoh MP301 bad hard drive
Any 2.5" hdd will work simply fit another.
But first i'd try formatting your original one, either in service mode with SP5-832-002 or fit the drive to a caddy etc & format in Windows.Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!
