MP C5503 Yellow Toner Dusting (severe)

It appears the yellow developer rear side seal was deformed. I replaced Dev assy and new pcu. 5 or 6 k prints later they call back with same problem. Seal looks fine? What am I missing? Don't see any TB's that apply. I always do the manual new unit initial etc. This unit does have 1.5 million prints. Should I get the PCDU as a unit? This one is a long drive for me so I'd love to get a handle on this issue.
    Thx

My gut would tell me that it could be caused by a high voltage board specific to the yellow developer unit causing it to become overtonned.

Does it go through the Auto Color Calibration OK? How does the yellow gradation look?

EDIT: I must have missed the first part where you stated the rear seal of the first DVU was deformed. Positive thats where the toner was coming from? Checked the pump for damage?

What people don't understand on the Metis device is if you get this issue you must replace all colour PCU's and Dev's together.

What you have done is replaced 1 but the other 2 colours require more charge as the units are older now but will place the same amount of charge on all 3 colour units hence the device blowing up the new unit again. New unit doesn't require no where near as much charge but will we coping the same amount as the older units. This device will always do this as the power pack is not smart enough to send separate amounts of charge to each individual unit depending on its life, it sends the same amount to all 3.

Replace all 3 units at 1 time and your issue will go away completely

That is a very expensive fix and I think that you'll find the copier is smart enough to cope with the different ageing of the PCU's and devs.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

Are you using OEM Toner? If not, it's more that likely the issue.

What's the count at for your ITB unit? Have had almost every xx03 series machine do this (almost always yellow, twice Cyan). 90% were normally fixed with new Dev. unit, but had a couple where the problem resided in the yellow transfer roller in ITB unit. Something to look at anyway.

I doubt that it is your problem, but did you move the lube bar spring to correct position for 5503/6003.

I agree, these filters often get missed, they even have a PM life counter.
