This MAY be a shot in the dark, but what I would try is replacing the HDD, reflashing the firmware, and as a last resort REPLACE the harness from control panel to Main controller. You may have a bad connection somewhere in between.

...good luck. Those are definitely "Head Scratchers"!

Firmware is always the first thing to try before replacing any parts.

ALL firmware files not just a few.

          UPDATE:
Replaced the HDD's and both cables from OP panel to the IPU. Also tried another OP panel and made sure all firmware was current.

Still can not get the hard keys to work on the op panel. And still the issue of 672-11 if I do not unplug and discharge the machine.

I truly am lost on this one

I know its not the same model, but i fought a old 7500 with this 672, it was the adf wiring harness shorting out, disconnected it and it came up. took me a week to find it.

I know how it feels... recently had an mpc 3004 on the same problem. It turned out to be the HDD. Luckily, we give out SSDs to techs on the field to replace whenever the HDD fails.

                    UPDATE:

I have tried all suggestions listed above with no luck. I ordered and installed brand new HDD's from Ricoh (ouch$$) with no change. We are pulling and replacing the machine. Customer has been understanding thus far, but its starting to wear thin.

I will continue to troubleshoot the machine in the shop and hopefully update this thread with a solution.

Does the device have a fax installed?if so check and make sure the jumper is turned on,
                      Also check powersaver firmware level

I have had that problem for a long time, the machine boot has lost it in the flash memory. The only way is to forcefully insert the firmware. I don't have the program to do it. Changing the controller for a good one should work for you

I would advise you check the date that a thread was first started. Just because someone else digs it out of the grave does not mean that you need to reply. Otherwise you are going to collect a lot of red cards.
