    [CQ] Ricoh MPC3502

Greetings, I have posted before and have a Ricoh MPC3502 that is losing color quality on the printing end only. Color copies on the same machine are fine. When you do a color calibration test pattern for both copying and printing, the copy color calibration test pattern is perfect. However, the printing color calibration test patterns are light right in the middle of the pattern. See sample attached. We have tried everything to fix this issue; firmware updates, PCU units, belts etc to no avail. We can correct the issue temporarily by doing a factory reset. Just wondering if anyone has an idea of what this might be and a better fix other than the factory reset.

    Thanks

do nt do factory reset WITHOUT having the birth cert ( should be under panel in front door ) the after reset you will have to enter SM and re-input all the mis.match values

You're thinking of main memory clear, SP 5801-001 clear all or SP 5801-002 engine clear.

Is the paper running the same direction when printing as copying? Can you upload the sample of the copying too? Show the lead edge.

Reset the printer application in sp mode, 5-801-8 I think,
              Then try a colour printout

                Gut feeling?
Replace the mirror motor before you proceed.
The motor is cheap compared to your time spent sleepless staring at the ceiling when you're not on the company clock.

Hey guys, original poster here. To answer your questions and for additional information on the issue:

                  1) Yes, the paper is going through the same way for copies and prints.

                  2) We do a full memory clear in SP801 which includes the sub 8 Printer application. The problem is temporarily corrected but returns in a couple of weeks.

                  3) The mirror motor replacement seems odd as color copies are perfect. The issue is only with color printing.

                  Any other thoughts?

I will add this that if you pull the laser unit to clean and ck mirrors etc you must wipe the inside cavity top too.
I just did two dirty lease returns and there was a good amount of dirt above where laser unit sits

When you reset your full memory clear, i.e. SP 5801-001 or SP 58001-002, and you do not have the machine's birth certificate in hand it will require a lot more than ACC. If you don't know what you are doing it could take at least 2 hours to manually adjust to where forced line position will not error out.
