If cleaning the shield glass didn't fix it, then you have a contaminated developer unit. I have had the same issue with MP C4503's with bad toner. I removed the black toner and it sounded like it was full of rocks. If that happens, the toner and the developer unit must be replaced. Before the new Dev Unit is intalled, the toner hopper must be cleaned out of all old toner.

        Good Luck.

Worst case scenario is you have either dust or toner inside the laser assembly.

Fault looks like Dev void toner clumps in the new PCU. I've seen it a few times from other model machines.

I've seen brand new PCU's straight from the main supplier with dev lumps.

Probably caused from storing warehouse supplies/parts in a hot environment.

What's it like duplex on the second side?
