442 is not fuser related...ITB related

    SC No.
    Level
    Error Name/Error Condition/Major Cause/Solution
    SC442-00
    D
    ITB Lift Error
Even though the ITB contact and release motor (also Toner supply motor
(M)) rotates, the ITB contact and release sensor failed to detect the
specified sensor feeler status within specified time.

Contact/separation operation: If not detected in 2000msec

    Sensor dirt

    1. Reset the Image transfer unit properly.
    2.
Clean the ITB contact and release sensor
    3. Check the harness (disconnected, loose connectors)
    4. Replace the ITB contact and release sensor
    5. Replace the image transfer unit
    6. R

On this model, the thermopile is located on the frame behind the fusing unit. When you pull out the fuser, you will see them

            Re: Thermopile for MPC 2004

Sometimes the thermopile just needs to be cleaned of debris, if that doesn't work replace it and reset the the code in service mode.

It's a rare day that a thermopile goes bad. Probably a problem with the heat sleeve or thermistors.

I agree that its most likely the thermistor or heat sleeve however I have had a customer damage a thermopile by removing the fusing unit and attempting to self repair the machine. Gotta love the wanna be techs.
