Energize tray heaters and drum heater.
Turn 3-903-1 SP from 0 (default) to 1. (Read Service Manual to confirm why..). Ask if this happens on "early morning copies" only.
    Good luck!

Laser diode? I know if you mix up the numbers that come on the laser diode sticker it blurs text - kinda like registration is out although its only one colour, black.

How come you don't change the blade?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.

Make sure the screw that holds the drum drive pulley to the shaft is tight.

x2, I had this once in the past on a similar model. Has to do with the dual beam used for printing, copying only uses a single beam. Wasn't a blur but a duplicate, overlapping line of text.

A slipping drum drive pulley will give you a stretched image. I believe he's saying that he's getting a duplicate line of text, which in my case was due to the dual beams misaligned intermittently. Replacing the laser diode fixed it.

                          Try replacing the memory Dimms.
