    MP 2554 Locked Printing

    Good day

    I am having issues with locked printing on MP 2554. User authentication is set to on. I am using Windows 10. I have installed the MP 2554 PCL 6 Ver 1.6.0.0 driver.Sometimes the machine does not lock the job. The job is printed even though the setting is set to locked. This happens when using Microsoft Excel and Word 2016. Some jobs are not printed when printing from Sage Evolution. In Sage Evolution, the print job is sent as a normal print job even though the driver setting is set to locked. Hence the machine will not print because access is restricted. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't work.

    Has anyone experienced this before. Thank you for your help in advance.

    Have you seen the issue or is this feedback from the user?

    Have you updated the firmware maybe a know issue.

      I have seen it myself. The machines firmware is up to date. There is know RTB with regards to this issue except. I have reinstalled the drivers and the same issue keeps recurring.

        Make sure the Job Type is set to Locked Print in both Devices & Printers > Printer Properties > Advanced > Printing Defaults, and General > Preferences.

        Some applications use one, some the other.

        Also, some applications use their own intermediate driver, which effectively bypasses the Ricoh settings.

          set the print queue to locked print, send a test page and if this works, let their IT deal with specific applications!

            Thank you for your response. The que is set to locked print. Locked print is working in all the other applications except Sage Evolution. Unfortunately their I.T is blaming the machine. The main problem now is that locked print is working for some users. The users have the same version of Windows and Sage.

              Thank you for your suggestion. I have set locked print on the advanced printing defaults and preferences. i am still have the same issues.

                This is the only way to set it up. Just want to add tho, after saving the settings from Printing Defaults, check the printing preferences as well. Close all open applications and start printing.

                Check the print log from the device (must be storing complete).

                  I've seen a lot of Win 10 workstations where changes in the printing preferences randomly don't stay. What I had to do was logon with an admin account, not just give the credentials when it asked. Then close out of every application running before making any changes to the defaults. Check task manager to make sure those apps aren't running in the background too. There are 2 ways to launch printing preferences, right click menu and the printing properties general tab, check both.
                  I had one account where 8 out of 10 workstations, I had to change the default from color to B&W several times before it finally stuck. That install was like a game of whack-a-mole. I'd set it, apply, then Ok. It would print fine for 10 minutes then change back to auto color and 2 sided default. Haven't seen this on Win 7.

                    Have you tried a different driver? ie if you used pcl5 try pcl6.

                      Try modifying the driver options with this program, Printer Driver Packager NX.

                        The application appears to be overriding the print driver default settings. There's likely a setting in the program to "Use Driver Default" settings, but unless you know where it's located I'd leave it to their IT guys.

                          Have you confirmed that the option is mandatory in the configuration of the machine?
                          If some impressions are blocked and others are printed directly, the machine may not have selected any type of user authentication.
                          Also, if you are not going to configure a mandatory user authentication, you must adjust the driver with the lock settings from the properties of printers, advanced, printing defaults.

                            I have tried with all the available Ricoh drivers. But I am having the same issues.

                              I though as much. But I have to be 100% sure before I point to their I.T.
