    MP-3352 SC899 error with a twist

I have a MP-3352 throwing the SC 899 error. They do not print to it at all, it's a copier only. Last print job was 12/11/8. All firmware is up to date except Network support and NetDocBox. No Java card installed, read a post where that was a fix. The only thing I see is for every SC899 error, it refers to a file "wsdevd". I talked to the person that sees the error mostly. She is copying a simple 1 month calendar with peoples work schedules on it, on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. page count is around 36,000. Any ideas?

What is being copied is irrelevant.
Several causes, but here are a few:
SC 899 Software performance error: Defective controller
SC 899 Software performance error: in printing mode PCL fw update needed to submit e-lert before May 2012 with full smc report , customer name model and version of pcl refer to TS120069-02 for temporary fw
SC 899 Software performance error: in fax mode FCU firmware has to be 03.00.00 or higher
Are you SURE all F/W is up to date? because the FCU issue would seem to be the most likely cause to me, as it relates to recovering from energy saver mode.
If they're not using the fax, then you could prove/ disprove it by removing the fax unit.

Here is what i have seen. I have had the hard drive go out and cause this also fax board it is small memory card that is not plugged in all the way. Pull the fax board and hard drive connector and see if it will come up to copy mode display will tell that hard drive is missing. then start with hard drive will need to reformat it or replace then slide fax board in see what happens.

Those are the 2 firmware modules that cause most SC899.

Even though they don't print to it, do they still have it hooked up to the network?
We usually see 899 codes from people trying to print from a website. In which case we go into WIM and into "Date/Time" settings and check "SNTP polling interval" to "When Printer is On" (seems to help with that). But with yours being on copy jobs, that may not be the case.

They do have a network cable plugged into it. Probably so it can report toner replacement emails. I'll try your suggestion. It probably can't hurt either way. Thank you.
