    4503 HDD

Hi, All. I need to replace the HDD in a c4503. It is an Aquarius 320GB drive, and it costs an enormous amount of money (like $400-600). Has anyone slapped a off-the-shelf 320GB HDD in one of these, or did Ricoh do something proprietary to the drive making that impossible?

I have replaced HDD in MP C2003 with a off the shelf model of the same size and had no issues. Don't see why the same cant be true with your module. My understanding is, that as long as the HDD is the same size or smaller and the interface cables fit, it should work.

Yes you can literally use any HDD larger or smaller than the original 320GB. When you replace the HDD machine will ask you to format, choose yes, maybe rootboot & that's it.

You might want to update the firmware this usually allows larger drive support.

I agree on the same or larger size, but have found that smaller than original drives hang up some device controllers to show please wait forever.

You can also buy these HDD's at Hytec for around $89. They are a great company to deal with. They do a lot of our board repairs on wide format for us.

Yes any 2.5 inch sata hdd the same GB or maybe a little larger or smaller. We also get drives from Hytec as well. I've even put the smaller 2.5 inch laptop size drive in machine that take a 3.5 inch desktop size as well in a pinch, as long as the cables plug up and you can mount it, good to go...

We are in the process of replacing the 03 and 04 series from HDD to SSD. the 240 GB is enough to keep the machine from failing. Plus we noticed that when an SSD is installed, the web browser responds faster.

Amazon 40 quid each, does the job. Just formatt at the device after fitting.
