    MPC 4503 maintenance schedule?

    greetings.
I ve done a few of these for simple calls and just picked one yesterday with 200k black meter and 73k color and
saw some maintenance required soon or such flashing when i powered it up.Machine printed test sheet fine and works..
As time was limited i wrapped it and loaded it to bring to my shop to test, prep and do your typical pull all units out.
I could not find anything in pm listing in service mode that was past or near end of life.
    Anything I should look for?
IS there lub bar sensors or such in drum units?
    thanks

Maintenance counters on these are based on clicks. If you go into SP Mode, there's a PM Counter List there that can show you what's at/near end of life.

That said, most items on the list will go WELL past the counter limits before giving you any image quality issues. The only one I wouldn't take a chance on is the fuser unit. Once it reaches a certain number of pages past the PM counter limit, it WILL code on you!!

The Service Manual will give you the Maintenance Tables in the Appendices.

When just looking at the main counters, one must bear in mind that to get the true count on the black is the total of both black and color. There should be a SP setting that can be used to turn off the message "maintenance required soon". The exception would be machines with a Fusing Unit Cleaning Unit where there is a setting for the % used that the message comes at.

Waste bottle is 100k but would it say waste bottle to be replaced?
Saw no reference for Fusing Unit Cleaning Unit ..and didnt think they had one..

You should be able to empty the waste toner(s) and reset the counters for said.

I remember seeing posts saying not to try to empty the 03 series waste units..
I think they are pretty tightly sealed too.
I bought a few new ones and will pop in one first but i was always led to believe
one would get waste toner error or such as in the earlier series..
I dont have any with over 300k so I am still feeling these out but i like the series..and am glad i switched over quickly from the 02s to the 03s as i see less issues with the 03s..

Just show the customer how to replace the waste toner container, then leave an empty one there. The machine will tell them when it is full. Replace the ITB cleaning unit at 300k, it is cheap and will save you a service call. The one thing you can do that will prevent the most amount of calls is to keep all of the firmware up to date.

You can prinout the pm list in sp mode, to check, if some parts near or above to pm. So you can decide to put spare parts ready for pm or not.
I would recommend to you to have a look to the cleaning unit of the itb unit. If you inspect the machine anyway, it does not hurt to do a fw package update.
The developer unit you can ignore, which holds at least twice and more.

One other thing to bear in mind is that these machines do the typical Ricoh paper PM message.
It doesn't show up on the pm list as being over or near over but if you get a "PM DUE" message and you can't find the culprit...SP3-701- and clear "Paper".

                    thanks all
as i had 4 other smaller units to do I havent even unwrapped the mpc4503 yet.
I dont want to place a machine wth any messages for obvious reasons.
I dont take the ITB cleaning unit apart unless I See issues or the meter is close
                    to its cycle..
