MPC3004exSP No PCL

Strange one I've never seen before. Printer config page has no PCL language listed but shows postscript. Won't print from a PCL driver but happy with ps. Backed up nv ram, full data clear and update all firmware - still nothing. Firmware shows no string for PCL but it's supposed to be embedded in the controller as standard and there's no way to force it to load from an sd card. Can't see any way to disable/enable it even via telnet.

Logged with Ricoh but not had feedback from them yet - any ideas?

You say updated all firmware is this just the package or did you do the individual roms also, especially the PCL fw.

The ex model comes with ps emulation. Does the machine have a fiery or has it every had one?

Did them all copier tech. Package first as a base, then all others including the updated versions of the ones in the package, then cheetah and java.

Don't know whether it had a fiery at any time but interested in why you ask?

Firmware update ignores the presence of the pcl firmware on the sd card though it does see and update the pcl font firmware.

Check SP5-895-1 to verify the print application has not been invalidated (should be '1'), and SP5-193-1 should be '0' for internal controller.

Had the same thing happen to me over a year ago. Turns out, somehow during the update process, the embedded PCL firmware was lost/corrupted on the controller board. No matter of SD or remote updates would restore it. Had to replace the controller PCB to fix it.

Yes, that's the next step Notrons. Got another 3004 on it's way in to the workshop so plan to borrow the board for a test.
