Ricoh 1224c don't powerup

I have a ricoh 1224c clone, an infotech isc824
Yesterday it starts to have some problem. When I press the power button, it seem to powerup but the only noise i can hear is from the fan. Nothing more.
Display is dark, so i can't get any error message.
No way to go into service mode, none of the key works.
What i can do?

youse got problems!
Step 1. Unplug all the plugs on the output side of the Power Supply Unit then check the sockets with a multimeter to see if you have 5v and 24v. You really need a circuit diagram to do this. If no voltage on the out put side of things you probably have a crook PSU.

Step 2. If you have output voltages you then probably have a bad circuit board somewhere else in the copier that is shunting a 5v supply line to earth. The only way to find this is keep unplugging circuits until something changes.

Best of luck and are you sure its wothh all the effort to fix a 1224?

Why? It's a so a bad copier?
We have had some other problems in printing quality. Probably due to toner issue in humid ambient.

Check your fuses on your power supply board first. Yeah, you will need a wiring diagram for some of the voltages.


The 1224 was not the best machine, given all of the choices out there.

I had pretty good luck with the color 3500/4500 series, but that was when they came out. I didn't have a ton of them in my area, but they did work good.

I don't work on color machines in the district, until we make that transition. The school district is NOT ready for color, given the amount of copies they make. That would break my budget to maintain them!!!!


I know that there are techs in the forum that will have better suggestions, and I would post your question as a new topic to get some good feedback.

The problem with color is their expense and the relatively low maintenance cycles, although they are better than when they first came out.

I agree with schooltech the C35000/4500 are very good I have alot of them 80K monthly all I do is monthly pm's.

the 1224 is a bto c(black with option in color) if you use the machine in this way ,all will be ok,if you use it like a full color you will have problems ,you will need more time than usual to maintence it ,be carefull if you need to move it,empty the oil tank,and take out the fuser

Not Worth Fixing

I beg to differ - you will have problems with these machines no matter what they are used for or what you do with them... unless you follow my advice and convert them into a boat anchor and cut the anchor line, because they're probably not even good for that.

Don't waste any more time - find a trade-in (any trade-in no matter how trashed) and swap it out. You will save yourself a lot of headaches.

No way. ricoh mp c3500 is too expensive for us. It's about 10k euro. We can buy at half that price, no more.

Any way to buy used parts at a very low price?

Usually there are two options for board replacement that is cheap:

1) Use a board repair company-hytec or something like that

2) Buy some wholesale parts machines and keep them in the boneyard for
parts swaps (my personal favorite.) This will save you many times over.
