    MP2000 Tray 2 Feed issues

    Hi,

Lately the machine has been having issues with paper coming from Tray no. 2.

Sometimes the paper would just stop before reaching the registration rollers, sometimes it stops when the paper is about to come out.

And the copies are often off by a few inches. I have attached a picture to visualize the problem. The one on the left is the original and the one on the right is the copied print. When i copy documents with letterheads or a short top margin, it will either be on the very top edge or not printed at all.

I have tried cleaning the clutches and rollers but the problem resurfaces. I also tried swapping trays but to no avail.

The upper tray have no problems whatsoever. Prints come out just fine.

    Thanks for the inputs.

Have you actually fitted a new clutch?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

      +1 on this.

Also, check the lower right hand door (beside tray 2), and make sure that the locator post is still there (goes into a hole on frame near front side of machine). Have had these break off and cause issues.

      All sensors cleaned? Working?

Does the red arrow indicate the direction of paper travel? If so, your problem might be the tray side fences. I have had them actually move when the drawer is closed. The momentum of the paper will push the rear fence back. THe harder you close the drawer,, the more it moves.

Here is a sp to adjust that may make a difference. Jam codes are always helpful to identify the problem area.

That is just to indicate the difference between the original and the copy that comes out. But even in A4 or Letter size that goes in sideways, the prints will be off by a few cm or inches on the right side.

I have checked the side fence and they haven't moved.

I agree with this. Either feed or vertical path clutch is probably shot. If the follower rollers in the door are not touching properly it can slip there too.

Paper being lifted firmly against the feed roller?
