[Error Code] wrinkled pages turns to SC400 error Lanier LD525C

My Lanier problems started by wrinkling pages, eventually reaching the point it was wrinkling every other sheet run through. I tried to fix this issue by cleaning all the rollers with a wet wipe.

Then the machine ran a self-repair requiring a reboot. After that, I started getting a SC400 error after each sheet run through.

I have also noticed that the fuser unit doesn't quite fit right and the side access door doesn't quite close right anymore, although I can't think of anything I've done that would have caused this.

I have done the cleaning process of the sensors, following a video I found and still get the error code.

Please help. I have work coming in and this is the only copier I currently have.

The SC400 is a ID Sensor Adjustment Error. Normally it is caused by a torn Image Transfer Belt. If you are not familiar with this machine then you SHOULD be calling a qualified Ricoh tech. It is possible your wrinkling is being caused by the Transfer Belt but I suspect these are separate issues. The attached bulletin dates back to 2012 and may offer some help. My experience with SC400 errors is pretty much always the Transfer Belt.

Thank you. I suspected the transfer belt but wanted confirmation. Only paid $50 for the machine. Not sure if investing in a new belt is worthwhile. Does anyone have high recommendation marks for this particular model that would make the investment in a new belt worthwhile?

well not sure of what "video" you watched, or what sensors you cleaned..
clearly you are not a tech.. that being said, please search the site for SC400 Ricoh.

        Wrinkling of pages means:
(all depends on if toner INSIDE of wrinkle or not)
        obstruction in paper path
        fuser issues

Please mention total pages on the unit ...
print a service report.. life on all parts...all errors

but SC400 for the longest time has been an ID sensor error.

Real common that the id sensor would fail on those buggers. When they were popular, I carried a spare for breakdowns. I don't think it is likely that the itb is causing the wrinkling, more likely the fuser. If the right side door doesn't look closed, make sure the fuser locks are in the down positions. That may be the source of the wrinkling. The SC400 is either the itb (torn), sensor (bad) or the solenoid and/or pivot used to rotate the id sensor into read/no read positions.
          I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........

Clean the ID sensors with rag damp with water, if that does not fix it throw it away.

Sounds like this machine may have been dropped causing the frame to warp. One thing to check are the latch assemblies for the PTR. They are notorious for breaking. If one is broken it will cause wrinkling and make the right door hard to close.

As for the SC 400, following the bulletin that Gary Bowen attached. YouTube videos can lead you astray. Be sure to use a soft, lint free cloth moistened with water only. Cleaners can leave a residue and alcohol or other solvents can etch the surface rendering the sensor useless.

I am surprised that "by cleaning all the rollers with a wet wipe." didnt fix all your problems..
I happen to have a lot of these series and the mpc2550 in the field..
yeah the plastic door parts break but the drums,ITB and fusers do perform..
he probably has the two fuser locks in the upright position or the duplex guide is broken out of position..
by your reply i think you "BETTER CALL SAUL"..MAybe see if someone here is in your local..
