Works well..........no issues. Been doing it for years. Just compare the color and black unit connectors and you'll see what needs to be filed.

The black pcu can not be used for colour pcu at all !

You can use D089 as a black drum still.
You want to use D02922xx (black drum) as a Color drum. File corner of connector and swap wires 1 & 2 (I think they're the only wires that cross over each other on the harness, when switched none of the wires should be "crossed"). Plus you will have to modify the Base Plate at the rear of the machine. There's a "tab" with a post on it that will prevent the D029 drum from seating all the way. Just grab a pair of pliers and bend it back and forth until it breaks off. Then "flatten out" the remainder as good as you can.

So, i used a mpc2800 cyan pcu to connect to a mpc3001 cyan developbox.
The connector of the pcu was already filed off (standard color), I swapped wires 1 & 2, I have modified the base plate in the mpc3001...
put it all in the machine AND
"error in photoconductor unit position" (i have translated in from Dutch)

Swap the wires back from memory you dont need to swap them on the 3001 just file connector.

Double check that you switched the correct two wires.

This is our cheat sheet we've used for years.

One of our techs also found a place (don't remember where) that made a little red harness that would cross the wires, instead of having to reposition them manually. They were pretty handy.
