FYI. Had a call for a SC878-01 error with the machine completely locked up. Installed a known working Controller Board and then the machine went to a SC672 error. Ordered in a new Controller PCB (D1175408), DIMM (X2) and NV RAM. Machine still would not recover from SC672 error. Ricoh Tech Support suggested a new OCP (which of course did not fix the problem). I tried another known working Controller PCB (hated taking parts from a working machine in case I wind up with multiple machines down) - machine returned to READY. Turns out the new Controller PCB from Ricoh was defective - also there was nothing wrong with the original DIMM's and NV RAM.

Re: C305SPF with SC672
Machine was locked up when I arrived. it would NOT allow me to: (a) Enter SP Mode or (b) Update Firmware. The original Controller PCB would not work when tested on a second machine - same problem. The new Controller PCB was defective as well. The SC672 error keeps you from entering SP Mode or updating firmware. Refitting the original Controller PCB will fix nothing! I'm trying to help the next tech who goes in on the same problem, on this model, with a new Controller PCB but walks out of the customers with the same problem as before. Ricoh supposedly addressed SC672 problems with the newer Controller PCB for the C305 - apparently not.Comment
