I tried with 2Gb in MPC2500 and did not work! So I'm not shure that newer copier support all SD cards?

The next argument is whether you update the firmware regularly or only when you have problems,
I'm in the "if it aint broke dont fix it" camp.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

Generally I'd agree, but I have had some really strange problems that were fixed by a firmware update. I've also updated the machine firmware to fix a customer... "seems to be working much better now"

My 2GB card works fine, but it was 1 in 6 that I've tried. Had to find one with a really slow right speed compared to other 2GB cards.

It workers and people who like flash mobile phones etc like the copier to be on the latest firmware.

I do think we forget not all the issues are mentioned in the change log. Just as now most ricoh parts when the part is modified, now its not always mentioned its change of vendor or parts interchangabilty.
To much money riding on these machines to admit to all the faults.

Direct from Ricoh - up to 2Gb cards supported... If only they can be trusted to know about their own products - I'm sure there are exceptions.

Thanks for posting that TSB Shadow.
As has been mentioned, it probably has to do with the read/write speed of the card. I used to have a program that would measure the speed of HDs, USB sticks and the like. Maybe I'll find that and do a little research.

I tested two 64M Ricoh cards and they are:
Avg Read 4.3MB/s Random Access 6.6 ms
Avg Read 6.6MB/s Random Access 2.9 ms

Then a SansDisk 2Gig that wouldnt work:
Avg Read 8.1 M/s Random Access 3.3 ms

                        Anybody else?

Cards above 2Gb are "Class 6 SDHC" cards and must have a compatible reader.

I have no idea what that means exactly

Here's what I got out of a Kingston 2GB SD card:

Avg Read 16.3MB/s Random Access 0.8 ms Burst Speed 13.2MB/s

I've used this very card for about 3 years now with only one failure to read on a Aficio 2232.

Using a Microcenter 1 Gig card ($7.99) tested as Random Access 3.6m and Average Read 8.2MB and it works!
