Ricoh pro 5100 - single sided goes down to 2 sided path and throws jam 028 inverter ?

I have been pulling my hair out with this. one the 1 st call out. i was getting 028 jams and plain a4 or a3 single sided (and the a3 card 140g) instead of coming out the fuser to the exit it goes down in to the 2 sided path (down left side) and because the machine is waiting for the exit sensors to be triggered it stops with paper gone down to 2 sided path.
i noticed the inverter gate that sits just after the fuser its home position is to high so thats why its doing it.

on my 2nd call i replaced the inverter ( which has a sensor arm on it ) and the actual sensor that reads its home position based off the sensor arm - this time a3 card 140 g is working iyts ok on single sided and 2 sided jobs so i thought great them parts has solved it. THEN tried a4 plain single sided does the fault again

just wondered if anyone has ever come across this fault?

i have attached a few pics

do you have the PM counters under control and if the belts with the holes are quite elastic and not loose?

at the minute im talking with Ricoh. going to swap out the paper exit unit and update the firmware. I know what they are thinking. a motor timing issue lifting the inverter gate ( gate pawl ) or a static path issue

      will update

Check the foam rollers on the exit guide.

What you are talking about Ben is the correct thing the device is supposed to do. Once it leaves the fuser it goes down into the inverter and gets reversed back up so the image becomes face down. If you dont want your image to come face down turn off Letterhead mode under printer settings which will completely bypass the inverter and exit straight into the finisher and give you your outputted image face up.

I would start by pulling the finisher off and checking the back corner behind the exit unit to see if paper is wedged up there as it puts a strain on the drive motor. Its easier to see it with the finisher disconnected.

As stated above, these exit units are full of sponge rollers which tapper off which cause jamming issues, especially on the E2 gate. I have replaced many a gate on the Charis C1 but you have a Charis C2 in the picture which I haven't had fail as of yet.

Otherwise I suggest you check for obstructions in the exit/inverter section and see how you go
