good morning ! i ve an mp2554 with the service call sc997-00 ,this sc code is not mentioned in the service manual.Anyone colud tell me about this service call??

Either you do not have a service manual or the one you have is at nearly 4 years old. SC990, SC991 and SC997 were added 07/24/2015.

Now can you provide additional information as to when this error occurs as it is application dependent.

Application function selection error. The application selected by the operation panel key operated abnormally (No response, abnormal ending).

Software bug (mainly the application)

Check the optional RAM, DIMM, boards required by the aplication program.
Check if the combination of downloaded programs are correct

Update all firmware, NetworkDocBox has to be at least 1.03. Update Java. If still not working try replacing HDD.

Does the machine have any software added to it, like Streamline NX or any other software?

I see 997 a lot on Equitrac machines that have the heap and stack maxed out. Make sure they are set to no higher than 75% of the maximum.

If it has a fax board remove then try to booth up and if comes up ok. Then i would replace hard drive first is depend on it along with other functions. I would also update firmware too.

Update nand flash firmware and your problem will be solved. Their is an RTB on that. Else it could be HDD

I see 997 a lot on Equitrac machines that have the heap and stack maxed out. Make sure they are set to no higher than 75% of the maximum.

I've seen 997 not just on equitrac but for other MFPs with embedded software installed on it. Turns out the heap and stack size is set at default and not by 75%. They end up replacing the HDD for for SSD based on suspicion.

My situation turned out to be the hard drive.
