    [Misc] IM C2500 silly question?

print to the tray with the letterhead paper it prints correctly however when a user wants to copy onto the letter head paper they put their original in the DF the right way up it copies on the letterhead upside down!

Now an easy work around is put the original in upside down when copying onto letter head? Is this the only solution!?

I've known about this for many years but never given it much thought until I was asked today.

Interesting issue. We have quite a few of these machines out there and haven't run into this (knock on wood) yet.
Any of the "default" settings in the Copier screen set to rotate or anything like that?
Are you using the classic copier app or the new style or quick copy?
    Firmware up to date?

The thing is ALL Ricoh models do this so its not unique to the IMC range.

No experience with the new IM series yet, but I'm sure the settings are similar.
Maybe this will help.....In User tools/ printer features/ system, there is a setting to rotate image by 180 degrees. Turn this either on or off (the opposite of whatever it is set to). You will then have to turn the paper around in the tray to get the proper orientation for printing, but now the copies should come out properly.

        Good luck!

When they copy are they using the DF or are they using the platen glass? I have seen in the past where on some machines where there is a difference.

Not such a silly question after all, is it?

            A really good one, actually!

I'll be damned! Just tested this on multiple models, and you're right. Have never really noticed this before (or at least it hasn't been brought to our attention by a customer).
Sandmanmac has the right "solution" I think. (maybe the only solution aside from flipping the original for copy jobs).

I tried this setting & it does rotate the image however when the custumer wants to staple the staple is on the bottom of the copy!

Need this setting solely for the leatterhead tray!

Good shout, the IMC has a rotate by 180 degrees setting for both DF & glass using the copy app.

                    Try

printer features > system > letterhead setting > always on

This setting may be for double sided letterhead printing.

                      Re: IM C2500 silly question?

Very good question, I've battled Ricoh over this for years. I have done all of the above in various combinations until I get one to work for specific customer. This is all due to the stapling of the paper. You would think Ricoh would be smart enough to do the programming in the firmware to match desired output for letterhead, nope. I have several customers who have notes on front of paper tray saying header to front when stapling.

The trouble with letterhead is the staple needs to be in upper left, yet the physical stapler position is on right of paper. So physically if you are to staple, the letterhead needs to be in tray with header to the front to get the staple in the upper left in this model.
                      I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........

The correct setting is in Copier/Document Server Features, turn on Letterhead Mode.

Thanks wasnt aware of this setting.

So does this setting rotate the copy only in the tray with letterhead loaded?

This is some info from an old training book it may work on the new copiers
                            Letterhead Setting
                            1. UserTools, Printer Settings, System

                            2. LetterheadSetting put on Auto Detect
                            3. Copier/DocumentServer Settings, Input/Output
                            4. LetterheadSetting switch On
                            5.
                            6. Leaveon APS.
This will allowcustomer to print and photocopy on Letterhead paper without having to turn thepaper around. ( If duplex is required, the paper is placed face down otherwiseit is placed face-up
Printing on to Letterhead simplex and duplex both from one PaperTray
                            1.

                            2. Place Letterhead or Pre-printed paperFace-down.
                            3. Go into SP Modes, press Yellow, 1.0.7. andhold Red down
                            4. Select Printer SP
                            5. In SP Direct (top of screen) type in 1001005then #
                            6.
                            7. Exit from SP Modes
N.B When using Letterheadthis will force all pages through the duplex path. This will slow the MFD downand cause more wear and tear on the duplex unit.
single sided pageswill only click once on the meter. This is not available on all models.
