MP301 SMB scan to Win7 authentication error

I set this up today on 4 Win7 computers, 3 of them went fine.
The last one keeps giving me Authentication error when scanning.
I have the right user name and password, logged out and back in to verify, AND just in case I created a new user: scanner with password: password
    and same error with that.
These are all on the same network and set up exactly the same.
Is there some simple setting I'm missing?

Double check you sharing and security settings
Is it wireless or hardwired. Hardwired make sure you disable the wireless.

If the one that that is giving the error is using wireless through a USB wireless dongle, that could be the problem. I have encountered USB wifi adapters that will not allow file sharing.

Went back to check it out and it is a hard wired connection to the network.
not sure where to go next with this one.

when is the last time that computer has been update. there was a problem a while back that Microsoft update for window 7 broke the scanning capability . they finally did an update to fix problem. what version is window 7 home or office. Check that in folder that your new user name is in both sharing and security tab and have full permission. on copier in address book try adding it again and browse the system to see if it find computer and then browse to folder it should ask for login information then try connection test. might want to see what antivirus software they have on that computer could be different. i know McAfee and Norton have to give it permission to pass through along with others. If allow temporary turn off and see if it goes through.

check if the network profile is set to public and also try to browse it from the device.

Usually when I get that there is an issue with the password, or the pathway is incorrect. Folder shared? Firewall disabled? Network discovery on? 802.11 enabled? When creating the scans user profile, did you give it admin rights? SMB1 enabled in windows features?

802.11 enabled should be a "no". When creating a separate user profile for scans, I have always had to select "run as administrator" in order to get it to work. BTW, you can have 5 brand new pc's of the same model and 2 out of the 5 will have scanning issues that the others don't. Different builds, I guess. Drives me nuts.

Just to add 2 cents, and agree with Mika...

I was called by a colleague to help set up scanning to a single PC for an mp c400 the other day. He's not very Network savvy, and I assumed it would be something simple.
I updated firmware, and spent nearly the next 2 hours trying to get it to scan to folder, even re-enabling smb1. No joy.
Never did figure it out. I set up FTP scanning in 2 minutes and left.
A week earlier, I had the same problem on an MP 3352.
Set it up on one Windows 10 PC in 5 minutes, could not get the other one to connect no matter what.

I just set it up to scan to FTP. I wasted too much time on this one.
but thanks to everyone for the tips.

make sure 3rd party software such as a firewall isn't blocking it... i have had that happen.
