I am not sure if Ricoh did the right thing by doing what they have done. With Lanier and now with Ikon...sure muddies the water for everyone. Now when we are bidding on an account we have two sister companies to compete with along with everyone else involved. And Ikon is still selling whatever stock they have of Canon.

      Shadow,

Thanks for the download. As a former legacy Lanier tech, I really think we did have the best service department going. If nothing we seemed to have information easily available at our fingertips. I guess the Ricoh guys saw how behind the times they were and swallowed us up whole. I'm sure by now they've completely ruined the FSD...

Nope, took about five years for them merge Lanier into Ricoh - translation: it took five years to figure out how to most efficiently screw things up.

FSD is now missing very useful information - OP guides, SMPPG's, older models, etc. all removed from our laptop because we were running out of HDD space - their solution was to get new laptops for the sales people. We finally got new laptops with plenty of space, but the missing info hasn't come back and they waste time converting everything to the "Tech Toolbox" look, but half the links are broken or require internet access.

The old Unix based Vision system was working just fine for dispatch, but we got stuck with the Oracle One system when we got new blackberries - the new BB's are great - the dispatch app SUCKS and Oracle hasn't worked right since they switched us to it.

There are 30 levels of management sucking up big $$$ salaries who can't get $100k worth of billing straightened out for one of my customers, but we can't get annother desparately needed tech because we don't have enough MIF points in our district (and when we do get enough points they recalculate the value system)

Yeah, life is SOOOOooooo..... much better with Ricoh in control. I just keep my customers happy as best I can and be thankful I have a job.

Unfortunately i do understand the billing issues.ONLY took them 2 years to straighten out ONE account with two machines.Got paid for one of them but took two years to finally get paid for the other...and that was just one account.Oracle is one piece of s%^! software that i wish they hadnt gone to.Of course then they changed the READ cd's to online and went up from about $1200 to $4k a year for the online manuals and the "Tech Toolbox".
Well it is a new year and i said my outlook for this year was going to be different.Like you said...just glad to have a job!

Amazing how fast things can change then... And if I remember correctly, it was all Lanier people who took the top positions in service. I guess as soon as they moved Ed Fleming and everyone out of Atlanta they forgot how to run a smooth sailing department.
