connecting to an apple laptop via USB?

    HI
I am not a MAC guy but can do normal IP address set up for the ricohs I place.
Have a lawyer who has no internet on his 2nd floor house where he want me to
bring a small color and set up..
I originally was going to bring a wireless extender but feel he can be a headache if signal drop or if he insist
on having his make shirt office door closed..And I really dont want to be welded to possible issues...
1st IS there an option to install a ricoh copier using USB port?
    if so anything to know?
And if not how do you guys get around this?
I have not seen the PC but am told it is fairly new laptop..
    thanks

      A couple of questions.
      What model Ricoh?
Will it require PS3 being installed?
Is there an usable USB port on the MAC?
Have you done an internet search? I found the following in a matter of seconds searching "usb printer on mac" How do I install a printer on my Mac? >> Hardware >> Mac >> Tech Ease

        Yep...what Slim said...
You're gonna need a PS3 kit fitted depending on the age of the machine.

Go with your first option i've installed a few now it literally takes seconds to set up.

Also if you client wants scan to email you can have that over USB.

This is the model I use last one I setup was in a church copier downstairs in a basement router 3 floors up no range issues.

It's been my experience that unless the manufacturer has its own proprietary print driver for Apple (ie: Canon UFR II), they're ALL going to need PostScript. There is a workaround for printing using PCL, but that requires installing Gutenprint or HPIJS, using the generic PCL drivers... it's more hassle than it's worth!!

Word of caution... Find out what VERSION of Mac OS X the customer is using, and make sure the PS3 drivers for that version are available!!! Apple never "pre-releases" their operating system to other equipment manufacturers like Microsoft does, so the day they get that OS is the same day as the general public gets it! Most manufacturers are FAIRLY quick to get a working driver out there, but I've seen it take 4-6 WEEKS before a working PostScript driver is made available!

Too many times I've had my Mac users update their OS, and then I start getting the inevitable "My printer isn't printing anymore" calls!

              Good luck.

Every Mac I have had to work with has had Generic PCL as an available option without having to install anything else. The draw back is that it does not support any printer features.

Range extenders work great, and I've yet to have one fail.

I have a Brother printer hooked up at home that way, never an issue.

It prints from a Server 2016, a Windows 10 machine, 2 iPads, an iPhone, and an Android phone without a hitch.

I ended up NOT doing the extender as my own home the wireless has been real BAD..shitty optimiun crappy wireless router..
Even the guy from the provider said their routers suck??
how do these turds get away wth this..
I dont want to be free IT guy with these small accnts and when you talk computer or wireless they dont get it..
I ended up hooking it up via usb and downloaded the oldest mac driver as they had 10.10.5 and i think i used 10.11..
IT worked no issues at all.
set scan to USB thumb drive as default via program mode as finding scan to thumb drive was not on normal scan screen..
I ended up swapping my crappy cablevision router and now my wireless works w/out dropouts.......
