    MPC 2500 DF fun!!!

installed a new 2500 it was setup and tested in the shop. delivered onsite 2 days later customer called reporting problems with the doc feeder not operating properly. arrived onsite. found reg sensor gone in the doc feeder. swapped doc feeders from a lease return (known good adf). customer called another couple of days went by customer called again concerned about black streaking. onsite again thought maybe just a failed K pcu. replaced the k pcu and tested 100+ pages no problems found. another couple of days go by customer cals again adf is not working again and the streaking is back. decided machine was a dud swapped out for a new machine. setup and tested machine onsite no problems found left site and client called and they reported the adf is not working. Is it possible that I have to bad machines or is it more likely that I have a power issue here.

Does the streaking occur from the glass also or just from the ADF?
Does the streaking occur when your are there or are they showing you samples.
Is the streaking black only or just or also color?

Yeah, it's possible that you have two bad machines (build quality, faulty wiring, etc) but when you say that the 2nd machine's doc feeder doesn't work, is it actually dead? When you go to 6-xxx and do output/input checks, does anything register?

That definitely sucks, but I would check the back of the machine and make sure that there are no pulled wires or stretched harnesses. Maybe there are other machines delivered in the U.S. that also has these problems due to a manufacturing flaw on a certain 'lot' of machines.

Although I haven't called the hotline in a long time, they might be able to tell you if they've seen other problems like this------unless the hotline has changed a lot in the past few years.

the streaking is black and occurs when doing internal test patterns. its so strong that they went through a black toner in like 5500 pages. it only streaks on black but they mostly use black. when I pulled the PCU out it was covered in toner. its like its over charging. when I go into sp mode and test the doc feeder. all the drives work but two sensors failed. reg and skew sensors fail on both machines. I am waiting to hear back from electricians they are going to test the plug in. both of these machines were tested 500 + plus pages in the shop. oh and also black streaking occurs when you go into edit color and print coverted color like black to magenta and so on.

Definitely let us know how this turns out. I can see faulty power causing weird issues, but the drum units puking would be a weird one.

More failed sensors on the doc feed? Weird stuff.

As the streaking occurs with internal prints, I think you can eliminate the ADF as the source of the problem. And there are enumerable instances of the I/O checks being backward or wrong.
Have you changed the Black PCU? If the charge roller is screwy that would give you the streaks.

Had something like that, Printed SMC and made a memory all clear and inputed all non defaults by hand, solved the problem. backkup system to SDcard with no success, you must input manualy.
              Hope this helps you.

Strange - would be nice to check some scans of the issue.

i had a problem like this with a df few daysago and i sussed out tht the sensor tht hangs like a claw at the bottom of the df as it is lifted up was out of position so wen u put the df down the machine still finks its lifted up cuz the sensor was not in contact. and wen this happens the df will not feed (scan) the originals or sense any paper. but if u open one of the doors on the df it will tell u to close the door.

black streaks can occur by the slip glass or on any pcu dependin the colour of the line. and make sure the client is well trained about the machine and problems tht can occur if not used properly.

                      Glad you sorted it

I've had one problem like this before where the Mag Roller in the Dev unit was to blame. Hardened toner got onto the Doctor blade and made scratches on the mag roller, causing Black Streaks all over the pages.
