If the customer is doing enough B/W to warrant having a dedicated B/W production unit, that is the way to go. The frequency of pro-con running is based on total pages. Eliminating B/W on the color models should reduce, slightly, the toner wasted in running pro-con.

Both models waste a lot of toner and fill the waste containers pretty fast. I would think if he already has 3 color machines, 1 new B&W machine would be a good addition. The Pro 8100 is a good machine.

Thanks guys. Would you say that the Pro c7100 is no better quality wise than the Pro c5200 and 8003? They use the same type toner as such and same dpi 2400x4800 so I would assume the same.

The Pro 8100 does use the same wax toner as well as the dpi so I assume the same type of B&W quality as the colour machines. My customer did have, not from me a 6500 B&W but that was 1200x1200 using the different toner that needed a hotter fused temp and the blacks always seems flat he said.

Thanks for your advice and I will give it a thought.

        thanks tim.
