Ricoh 2022 Scan to email problem

Hi everyone! I am working on a 2022 that has a scan to email problem. The unit can scan to folder and has no problems printing on the network but has recently stopped scanning to email. I have tried a few different SMTP servers and cannot get it to pass a connection test. Tired of beating my head against a wall. Things I have tried

    1. Multiple SMTP servers
    2. NCS memory clear
    3. Replaced NIC

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Scan to email

What ISP are they using? I know we recently had a problem with some of our clients, number one they changed the PORT from 25 to 527 and then they also started requiring Authentication. If you require Authentication you can get around it by using a 3rd party software solution. Let me know if you need the info on it and I will dig it up.

    Take care,

    Kelly

Well, they are using bresnan communications with authentication but I also tried a few SMTP servers that does not require authentication and was still a no go. I had also tried changing the port to 527

If you are using the name of the mail server you MUST enter the DNS. IP addy not necessarily so but I always enter the DNS anyway.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

#1- Were they able to scan to email before? Or is this a fresh setup?

#2- When you try to scan to email, does the error come almost immediately? Or does it take several minutes? (Quick error means you've set up wrong. Long error means security, firewall, network, etc is in the way. Make them call their IT in this case.)

#3- I know you said you tried some SMTP servers without authentication. But did you try Bresnan (mail.bresnan.net) without authentication, and DNS servers 69.145.248.50, 69.145.232.4, 69.145.248.4?

My company is on Bresnan, and I have no issues with it (unlike Quest's new BS). I set up and test all our new machines on Bresnan, and have never had any issues.

          Regards

            Scan to e-mail

Make sure that you type in the IP address to the SMTP server. If it is defined by the mail server name (mail.copytechnet.com) it will not work.

Pretty sure that it's not capable of scanning to email with SSL -many previous versions aren't. try configuring an account that doesn't use encryption
