    MPC3502 ADF "GRUNT"

    HI
I have a mpc3502 making noise as paper begins exit on the adf.
Change feed belt, sep roller and clean one way clutch wth alcohol.
Cleaned all rollers and guides and get noise still.
    it seems less when doing it 8 1/2 x 11 R than normal,faster letter..
ITS almost like a buckle sound..
Will swap the sep roller one way gear but any ideas?
    thanks

Take of rear upper cover. Enter SP mode, ADF output check. Narrow down.

You do get a noise from the belt roller {one way bearing} clean shaft lub bearing or replace

Common cause for noises it the ADF that starts just after the trail edge of the paper enters is usually the caused by a dirty separation roller, dirty feed belt or both. Not enough friction between the two so the separation roller turn against the belt. Cleaning might help but you will eventually need to replace at least the separation roller.

              THANKS SLIM
I changed those parts and cleaned all roller, white plate, slit glass etc etc..
It comes just as the lead edge hit the exit rollers

                Re: MPC3502 ADF "GRUNT"

Is it grunting on every sheet that passes, or is it every now and then?
Usually weird grunts can be a sign of a bad feed clutch. On this series we have had to replace the main feed clutch (P/N: AX210102), and we've had a couple where we had to replace the exit section torque limiter (P/N: D3664242, I will post a pic of this item).

Have you Lubed all bushings in that area?
Any of the Timing belts slipping?
Any warped guides or a guide that isn't opening fully (solenoid not firing all the way).

upon ist inspection, grunting all the time.
I changed feed belt, sep roller, cleaned one way sep roller, all transport rollers and ran again..
It was ok but after 4-5 original it started and kept at it.
i tried running original 8 1/2 in narrow feed and that was ok but would start to grunt after a bunch of originals..
I didnt pop rear cover and try spraying alcohol on main clutch as time was running out..
I only have less than 02 series and have a whole machine i can gut for parts..
