    MP C305 Home button

I have a 305 that when i press the home button it just beeps at me. So i can't get to any of my applications unless i have the side buttons as a shortcut, which it only has three, so i have to choose 3 out of my usual 5. I updated the firmware.
I set the function priority to home but it still stays on the copier screen.

Sounds like you have user/admin authentication set?

System Settings > General Features > Function Priority

      - Specify the mode to be displayed immediately after the operation switch is turned on, or when System Reset mode is turned on.

      Default: [Home]

Or you could try restoring the [Home] screen defaults.

Neither of those worked...could it be firmware? Maybe the actual display unit is bad?

Edit: I set the system reset to 10 seconds...when 10 seconds pass it returns to the home screen (which I set as the function priority). But when I'm on the copier screen or something else and hit the home button...it just beeps at me as if nothing has been programmed for that button

I would start with firmware. I don't see anything in the f/w history for that symptom, and haven't personally run into it with this machine, but it's worth a shot.
If the button beeps when you push it, then i think we can rule out the board in the op panel.
If firmware doesn't do the trick, then i would be hunting for a setting somewhere in there that's causing it to do that. Like an "interrupt mode" or something like that.
