    sc820 on a SP5210 SR

    I just fired up this sitting unit and see sc820

    820 D Self-diagnostics error: CPUCut-in in ASIC occurs.Defective devices in which ASIC detects cut-in.Damaged boot monitor program or self-diagnostic programReplace the controller board.Reinstall the boot monitor or self-diagnostic program.

    what is ASIC?
    and what or how can i
    Reinstall the boot monitor or self-diagnostic program.?

    Most likely Application Specific Integrated Circuit. An application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is an integrated circuit (IC) chip customized for a particular use.

      I was wondering if it could be a bad RAM chip or a bad HDD, if this kind of machine has one.

        yes to both hdd and ram..
        I didnt try swapping out either and have a few pulled controllers if i need to go that route..
        looks like i would have to swap nvram from bad one..
