    Default Scanner File Type

How do I change the default scanner file type from tiff to pdf on a Ricoh C5502 when scanning to folder?

on the copier whenever you select scan to file. on the right you should see send settings. select that and you can make any default changes you would like. then select to set it as current defaults. save this and it will be there next time.

+1 and to save as default the program button is on top of the number pad right next to the yellow reset button. It's the funny diamond shape with arrow going in button.

Could also set via web if you have access but can't remember exactly where because usually just do it from operation panel

After you have changed the file type and any ither items you wish to be the new default, press "Program" then "save as default" and follow the prompts.

The only thing I see on page 53 concerning scan settings is:
            Scanner:
Scan Settings, density, Original Feed Type, Send File Type / Name (except for Security Settings),
Select Stored File, Store File (except for User Name and Password), Preview, Text, Subject,
            Security, Recept. Notice
This section explains how to register functions in a program using copier function as an example.
Specifying the file type is on page 125
Saving them is referenced on page 12.
Registering frequently-used settings as initial settings (Program as Defaults (Copier/Document
            Server/Fax/Scanner))
See "Changing the Default Functions of the Initial Screen", Convenient Functions
The referenced "Changing the Default Functions of the Initial Screen", Convenient Functions is not in the User Guide. Convenient Functions is a separate manual. It is only available in HTML format. They show copy screen in their example but the same steps apply for all other functions.
Specify scan settings and any other settings you require on the initial copy screen. Pretty much what I had posted.

Specify scan settings and any other settings you require on the initial copy screen.

            Press the [Program] key.

            Press [Program as Defaults].

            Press [Program].

            Press [Yes].

You're right, my bad. I had misread it.

Always nice from Ricoh to spread stuff over different mediums (not!). Separate PDFs on the same folder I can understand, but having to skim through PDFs, then HTML, maybe on CD, or perhaps on-line - it really is much easier to ask for help...

Not to mention Convenient Functions is only found online, you can download but still HTML, and the manuals CD that came with the machine that may have been given to the original customer how might know where it is now.
