    SCANNING ON A MPC4503

    hi
I got a call regarding scan to email problems on a mpc4503..
It seems when received sometimes the scan is just gibberish characters not what was scanned..
They say if they copy the file it comes out ok..

This is most likely the setting called 'Divide and Send,' an old feature for weak email servers. Disable that and "Max Size" setting in Scanner Features, under the 'Send' tab.
Let me know if that was it.

I just turn off max size, let the email server worry about the size. I turn off 'divide and send' also. Another thing to check is that scanning is defaulted to black and white.

Most SMTP servers will not accept an attachment that exceeds 25MB, even if by only 1 byte. The reason for the 2MB default is that it is what free online email providers like yahoo used to accept. If you have to send something larger, scan to a cloud folder or to a local and copy to a cloud folder and send a link to the file in an email. If you use gmail like I do, gmail will automatically load anything that exceeds 25MB to your google drive and send the link.
