    sc 546 on 2045 HELP!!

This sc code is the most difficult fault to get rid of for good! Keeps recalling every few days. Changed hot roller, thermistor, cleaning roller all genuine parts and correct part part numbers fitted in according to manuels. Lamps and thermostats all working. Its making me look like a right twat! Seems like a common fault on these 2045. How do i fix it?

First, is all of the firmware up to the latest version?

Second, is the power to the copier clean? I know that a 547 is for dirty power, but fluctuating power, as we all know, causes weird crap sometimes.

Given that you have changed out most everything, you might have a fuser connector/receptacle that is losing connectivity when it gets hot.

On a previous version, the 1035/45 series, we fought with one and it ended up being the fuser receptacle in the copier that finally fixed its 542 problem.

Regional slang is so funny; I see the word twat and can pretty much guarantee you that in my mind, a "right twat" would be as good as a "left twat" and that it does not mean here what it means on your side of the pond.

My money would be on the fuser connector at this point. Had one like that before. Changed everything. Kept coding. Swapped the connector and all was good.
Don't take that toner with me!

I concur. Connector on back of fuser (these get cooked over time), or connector on machine side.

          Regards

I agree that the connector is most likely.

Just a thought....Another thing I have seen is power fluctuation to the machine. Set SP1104 (Temp Control) to Phase Control and then reboot the machine.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

The fact that it's 'every few days' leads me to power fluctuation as well. A good surge supressor should take care of it - It has for me in several locations.

yes I had some trouble with these connectors too - the last times I just cleaned the contacts with contact spray and slided the fusing unit in and out for ~20 times and some force and that seemed to be a good and time-saving workaround

Yeah, I kind of figured that. But, here it means a slightly different thing-and the U.S. techs will concur.

So, how's the problem looking? Have you been able to swap the connectors and checked the power?

i ended up replacing the whole fuser unit instead of repairing it. looks like its ok now, not come back in yet. so its definitly within the fuser unit. rekon it was the rear connector of the fuser unit that was causing this 546. connectors did seem a lil loose.
